Rose vase, by Louie Rigano

There is a perpetual human need to preserve the fleeting spectacle before it passes. Rose Vase is a study in both capturing ephemeral sentiments, and in vessels and the contents they hold.

The rose itself is an icon of fading beauty. Flowers have a self-destructive tendency: as they age, they wither and lose their petals. Here, this play of transience is hardened, the temporary is made permanent.

The vase is made entirely of rose petals, the remnants of the contents. Together, the vase and rose become part of an enclosed system, a dialogue. The outcome is a vessel that questions its contents, and a material that questions its origin and application.

Growing Jewelry, by HAF, by Hafsteinn Juliusson

Growing Jewelry is a redefinition of modern values. It is a clash of jewelry and gardening: couture and organism. The collection of this hand jewelry is designed for people in metropolitan cities and is an experiment in drawing nature toward man, as nature being the presupposition of life.

“PICK A JEWEL” by design unit fift (husband and wife design pair Katsunari and Asami Igarashi)

Coming across such a design on a blog only reminds me of my childhood years; the accumulation of beautiful little objects that hold incredible sentimental value whilst we roamed around the wilderness. Whether it was a leaf or a flower, a broken bit of glass or a seashell. All these inanimates that we treasured in our pockets as young kids, becoming evidence of our discoveries and findings.

This design was fift’s ‘attempt to revive that childhood notion that the most valuable jewels are the ones we find; the ones that carry sentimental value.’

Metaphys garden « picture » planter
Picture is a framed planter that allows users to plant seeds and enjoy growing plants within the frame as if appreciating pictures in an art museum. The Planter provides a stark contrast between the organic plant and the inorganic frame, and between the developing plant and the cropped nature of the frame background.
Picture can be placed on desks or hung on walls. A square aspect of a planter will have a variety of looks with different pieces of scenery pictures. A long rectangular plane may suit for the panoramic sea view stretching as far as horizon. A plane of another planter placed by the window may suit for white clouds floating in the sky.

Desert storm lamp, by Nir Meiri

The “Desert Storm” lamp by Tel Aviv designer Nir Meiri is a delicate and elegant representation of the intricate nature of a desert with its light shades of molded sand. I can almost feel the warm sand under my toes when I look upon the unbound aura seen within this delightful design.

Fragile Future III, by Studio drift
It tells the story about the amalgamation of nature and technology. In the distant future these two extremes have made a pact to survive. Fragile Future III combines an electrical system with real dandelions in a light sculpture that is predestined to overgrow a surface.
I think it would look great as a lamp if you have an high ceiling.
