Veio serie, by Kathrin Morawietz
Traditional craftmanship reinterpreted – this was the idea that influenced German designer Kathrin Morawietz to develop the ‘veio’ series. The art of woodturning was used to create a collection of bowls, not turned of wood, but of a new material composed of layers of fabric and wood glue. This process allows for the soft tactile feel of the fabric to be maintained throughout each of the pieces. The colored textile layers running through each of the bowls resemble contact veins in rocks, combining the five single pieces to become one collective unit.
‘veio’ was presented at DMY berlin 2012.
