Form follows process when product designer Chen Chen creates the Swell Vase by injecting an expanding polyurethane foam into a bag made from a stretchy netted fabric.

Designers comment:

“The form comes from the the tension created when the foam pushes outwards and forces the fabric to stretch, the fabric in turn acts as an extrusion die for the foam that makes it’s way out of the bag,”
